Training at Lukhambi village in Tamenglong


IMPHAL, Mar 4 : A one-day awareness programme on “Tuber Crop Based Farming System for Sustainable Production and Income Generation” was held at Lukhambi village, Tamenglong district under the aegis of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Tuber Crops, CAU Imphal.
The programme was attended by MLA Janghemlung Panmei, CAU College of Agriculture Dean Dr N Iboton and Head, Department of Economics, College of Agriculture CAU Dr N Ram as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the programme Dr N Iboton highlighted the importance of harvesting rain water.He appealed to farmers not to worry for markets of their food plants.He assured that CAU would arrange markets for food plants grown by farmers of the State.The awareness programme which was attended by around 150 farmers also featured technical session.
During the technical session, Associate Prof Dr AK Bijaya presented a paper on ‘Importance of tuber crops and their cultivation’ as Dr RK Tombisana Devi spoke on ‘Important diseases of tuber crops and its management’.
Dr Kh Ibohal spoke on ‘Protection of tuber crops from biotic stress’ while Dr Th Ranadhir presented another paper on the topic ‘Role of tuber crops in successful management of piggery’.
